Miss Jennifer Monson
Grade: Third Grade
My name is Jennifer Monson, and this is my first year at Chapel Hill Christian School. I am very excited to have the opportunity to serve you and your children. I am originally from New Jersey where I attended Rowan University in Glassboro. There I received a Bachelor of Arts and certification in elementary education with a coordinate major in writing arts. In addition, I obtained a certification in special education. This extra certification has not only given me an understanding of special learners, but it has provided a broader perspective to my teaching in general.
During my student teaching, I served in a third grade class that used a co-teaching model. I taught with a special education and regular education teacher in the same classroom. I feel prepared to teach in any classroom because of the valuable educational tools I now know how to employ. Third grade will open up an even bigger world to your children. They will learn about many interesting things using a hands-on approach within a supportive environment. The students will learn how to help and depend upon each other with me as their guide. My heart desires the students to enjoy learning and use that learning to become wise children who honor God with their abilities. I know that you as parents want the best for your children, and I know that together we can help them achieve great things I look forward to seeing what this year brings for my students and for me. |

What's Special About This Grade?
Third grade is a transitional year from the "right answer" teacher-directed curriculum of second grade and the "explain your answer" independence of the fourth grade. Learning to be self-directed and self-governed are important new skills.
