Hello, my name is Carolyn Hopkins and I began teaching first grade here at Chapel Hill Christian School in 2002. I am glad you have chosen a Christian elementary school for your child. I am committed in my teaching to help your child see the world through a Christian worldview, and make decisions accordingly.

First grade is such a foundational year, because for most students, they enter first grade reading only sight words, and emerge as proficient readers. I want your child to develop a love of reading, and will create that environment in my classroom. Come in and visit and see all the wonderful things the first graders are doing and learning.

The students improve in responsibility, organization (they have their own desk for the first time), social interactions, and emerge as proficient readers. Many first grade students enjoy reading because it is not as hard any longer! Six and seven year olds also understand salvation more and how to have a personal relationship with Jesus.
