My name is Ashley Smith and I am a new art teacher this year! I live in Cuyahoga Falls with my wonderful husband, who is a CHCS alumnus. I graduated from the University of Akron in the spring of 2006 with my Bachelors Degree in Art Education and substitute taught for one year before starting to teach at CHCS. This year I will be teaching art to the Preschoolers, Pre-kindergarteners, Kindergarteners, and the Second graders.

I love teaching at this age level because the early years of learning are really about experimentation. These little ones are always so excited to see how paint will mix or how squishy clay is. Because of that they are always waiting for the next big surprise and I always have a smile on my face! Please remember that early on these art projects are really about the process of creating and less about a final product.

I am truly excited to be a teacher at CHCS and I know this year will be a creative one! I want your children to experience many different art materials and even learn a little art history. My goal as an art teacher is to really get the children to make there own choices and let them know God made them as an individual with amazing artistic ability.
